Work With Us

Four (4) Youth Podcast Hosts

Description

As a health and wellness organization, the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021 (and FNHA). We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at IRSSS. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.

We are looking for four (4), self-identified Indigenous, first nations, inuit or metis youth between the ages of 18 and 30, LGBTQ2S+ safe, to join the IRSSS Podcast Project. The Youth Podcast Host(s) will interview Residential School Survivors in commemoration of their Indian Residential School experience and how they overcame the trauma, with a focus on intergenerational healing, knowledge and understanding.

What is a Podcast Host? The role of a podcast host is to serve as the primary on-air personality and lead the show, playing a major role in a show's success. They would be responsible for introducing guests, conducting interviews, and keeping the conversation flowing. They may also be responsible for booking guests, researching topics, and writing scripts.
A junior podcast host will gain great communication skills, how to be organized and prepared, and learn to think on their feet.

The Youth Podcast Host(s) will be included in the decision making of this project, for example where we record, who we record, style of recording, production and more. The hosts will also be learning from podcast producers throughout the entire project, set up/take down, recording, editing, style, all aspect to make a podcast operate and be successful.

We will also have a one-week training session at the end of January, each host must be able to attend for 4 days in person to get to know each other and learn from our producer.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in looking at the future in podcasting.
